Welcome to the Austin Holistic PT Blog
If you’ve found your way here, welcome. I’m David, and this is a space I’m opening up to share what I’ve learned in my years of practicing physical therapy — and more importantly, what I continue to learn from the people I work with.
I started this practice because I wanted to work differently. Most of us have been through the assembly-line version of healthcare: a rushed appointment, a generic diagnosis, a prescription for three sessions of cookie-cutter exercises. If that’s worked for you, wonderful. For a lot of people it hasn’t — and I was one of them.
So this blog is my attempt to share the quieter parts of the work: the ideas that shape how I approach sessions, the stories (with permission) of what whole-person healing actually looks like in practice, and the small shifts in movement, breath, and awareness that I’ve seen change people’s lives.
What you’ll find here:
- Explanations of the treatments I offer — dry needling, manual therapy, yoga-informed movement — written in plain language, not clinical jargon
- Thoughts on what it means to treat the root cause of pain instead of chasing symptoms
- Breathwork and mobility practices you can try between sessions
- Occasional longer pieces on the philosophy that shapes this work — the threads from yoga, integrative bodywork, and Eastern movement traditions that inform how I practice
What you won’t find here:
- Sales pitches, listicles, or SEO fluff
- “10 exercises to fix your back forever” (if it were that simple, none of us would need this work)
- Medical advice. Nothing on this blog is a substitute for an actual evaluation — if you’re in pain, come see me or another qualified practitioner
I’m going to post when I have something real to say, not on a schedule. Quality over frequency is the intention.
If a post resonates with you, or if there’s something you’d like me to write about, I’d genuinely love to hear from you. The contact form is on every page, or you can email me directly at austinholisticpt@proton.me.
Thanks for reading. I’m glad you’re here.
— David
